8661, Contactless Rotary Torque Sensor

This torque sensor offers ranges from 0.02 N·m to 1000 N·m with a linearity deviation of ≤ ±0.05% F.S. It features an intelligent display, versatile output options (±10 V, optional ±5 V or USB), and can measure speed and angle with high precision.

8661 - Description

The Type 8661 torque sensor operates on the strain gage principle and features non-contact, maintenance-free operation due to its inductive and optical signal transmission methods. This advanced design allows for the direct digitization of signals on the shaft, which are then output as either a voltage signal or via USB by the integrated evaluation electronics. The sensor's superior bearing quality supports operational speeds of up to 25,000 rpm based on the measurement range.

Equipped with a bidirectional voltage output of -10 V to +10 V, the Type 8661 efficiently determines rotation direction. It offers optional enhancements for detailed speed and angle measurements, capable of accommodating up to 2000 increments for precise motion analysis, outputting through a TTL signal.

The sensor is fully compatible with the DigiVision Light software when utilized with USB connectivity, facilitating straightforward integration into diverse control systems. For broader application support, downloadable drivers for LabVIEW and DASYLab are available, enhancing the sensor's versatility in complex setups. Optional accessories such as various lengths of connection cables, metal bellows couplings, and mounting blocks allow for tailored integration into specific customer systems.

8661 - Applications

This sensor is perfect for industrial production and assembly applications where there is a need to measure actuating or breakaway torques, holding torques or tightening torques.

Its high measurement quality means that the sensor is equally suited to quality control applications and laboratory-based research and development projects.

For network-independent, mobile use, the torque sensor offers an optional USB interface. This can be connected to a notebook running the PC software supplied with this device to take on-site measurements with accompanying visualization and archival of measurement values.

The applied torque can be read easily by evaluation units or controllers connected to the normalized analog interface.

Its compact, robust and vibration-proof construction makes it suitable for use in the following example applications:
